Modern Dentures for Comfort and a Lifelike Appearance

Jacksonville denture dentist Dr. Lysandro Tapnio tailors all of his treatments to meet his patients’ individual needs. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the planning and fabrication of dentures. We offer several different kinds of restorations, including full, partial, and implant-supported varieties. Dr. Tapnio will carefully evaluate your health and financial needs to determine most suitable type of dentures for you. No matter which one you select, you will enjoy numerous cosmetic and practical benefits. Not only will your denture restore all or most of your dental function, it will also repair your beautiful smile and fill in your facial contours. If you are missing teeth, it’s time to enjoy a restored grin and healthy bite. Contact us today to learn more about dentures and begin planning your custom restoration.

Traditional Full Dentures

Full dentures are intended to replace all of your upper and/or lower teeth. They are created with a plastic base. The comfortable, smooth material comes in many different colors, and Dr. Tapnio will choose one that matches the color of your gums. The replacement teeth themselves will be carefully designed to match your smile and facial proportions. In this way, Dr. Tapnio can repair not only your smile, but your overall facial contours, as well. The replacement teeth can be made from ceramic, zirconia, or another advanced material. Like the plastic base, these materials come in many natural shades.

To ensure a stable fit, Dr. Tapnio will take impressions of your gums. If needed, he can perform bone graftingto build up the ridge beneath your gums. This procedure can often prevent your dentures from slipping around in your mouth. With the carefully made impressions, your denture will fit very securely. However, you will typically need to use denture adhesive to keep it all the way in place.

Traditional Partial Dentures

Partial dentures can fill in large gaps in your smile, replacing several adjacent teeth. They will have a gum-colored plastic base made from impressions of your mouth. Your restoration will have several tiny metal clasps, which will connect to your nearby teeth. Carefully positioned, these attachment pieces will be very discreet. Denture adhesive will further stabilize your restoration.

Dr. Tapnio and our partner lab will take great care when designing and fabricating your partial denture. They will ensure that the restoration matches your surrounding teeth, maintains your bite alignment, and does not put undue pressure on your other teeth.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Dr. Tapnio can place one or more dental implants to support a partial or full denture. Implants are made of biocompatible titanium and act as replacement tooth roots. Dr. Tapnio provides full implant services here in our office. If needed, he can even perform bone grafting to create a more solid support for your implants. If you require a partial denture, he will typically place two implants. He can often affix a full denture with as few as four strategically placed implants.

While all of our dentures are durable and lifelike, implant-supported dentures offer some unique benefits. Most noticeably, they will be firmly anchored in your mouth. They will not slip around, and, in most cases, you will not have to make adjustments to your diet. Second, they are permanent. When you practice good dental hygiene, you may never need to replace or repair your denture. Implant-supported restorations are also virtually identical to natural teeth. They rest directly against your gums without a plastic base, adhesive, or metal attachment pieces. Finally, implants can prevent your jaw from receding. In turn, you can avoid a changed appearance and additional tooth loss.
